Background, construction timeline and how the resort operates day to day in central Helsinki.
Fennia Palace was planned from the start as a combined overnight stay and gaming destination. The site at Lapuankatu 4 previously held light industrial buildings that were cleared between 2009 and 2010.
Construction followed Finnish building codes for mixed-use hospitality and regulated gaming. The finished structure contains eight floors of guest rooms above ground-level public spaces that include the gaming floor, dining halls and wellness wing.
Autumn 2012. First overnight guests arrived in September. Gaming floor opened under the same licence the following week.
Two hundred forty rooms after the 2015–2018 expansion. Original opening count was one hundred eighty.
Approximately eighty-five thousand square feet across three connected zones. Table games and electronic machines both present.
Front-of-house, kitchen, housekeeping, gaming and security teams operate in shifts covering twenty-four hours.
All gaming activity is conducted under Finnish law and the oversight of the relevant national authority. Age verification is required for entry to the gaming floor. Responsible gambling information is displayed at entrances and available at the guest services desk.
Room numbers and guest details are not disclosed to third parties without legal requirement. Surveillance cameras cover public areas only. Recordings are retained according to the retention schedule stated in the privacy policy.
Heating and cooling systems were modernised in 2022. Water fixtures in guest rooms use reduced-flow fittings. Waste sorting stations are located on each floor and in the service areas. The building participates in the municipal energy-reporting scheme.
Fennia Palace sources a portion of food supplies from regional producers. Occasional public events on the ground floor are listed on the events page. Local job openings are posted through the reception desk and standard recruitment channels.
